Stand Mount No.1159 Build & Happy Customer

We recently completed a custom order for a pair of Stand Mount No.1159 Speakers. This was the first time making the entire speaker from solid walnut. We used a chocolate colorant which provided a more brown tint to the wax finish. Check out the 360 video of the finished speakers below. 

We decided on upgrading the woofer to the 5" Satori model MW13P-4, which has an improved motor technology for lower distortion.

The port was moved from the back to the front, and changed to a slot style port instead of circular. The slot port had to be machined directly into the front baffle which is 40mm thick. 

Below is a rendering of the latest build which included optional grill covers. These covers are secured with hidden neodymium magnets. 

The hidden magnets provide for a clean look when the grills are removed. 

The customer also requested brass inserts in the bottom of the speaker to accommodate ISO Acoustics GAIA lll feet. 

Tweeter Changes

We've also upgraded the tweeter to the Satori Textreme version (Model TW29TXN-B), which obviously took things up a notch. 

One of the key design elements is the partially concealed surround which is precision CNC machined to closely follow the surround shape with minimal clearance. 
To precision space the surround we've CNC laser cut in-house 0.50mm thick rubber gasket of specific durometer hardness. This is an improvement over using 1mm thick foam tape, offering better control over the final physical clearance.

This specific build solicited some feedback from the customer;

"... I’ve spent more time with the speakers and have been genuinely impressed by what you’ve accomplished with it. The speakers have exceeded my expectations in terms of dynamics, imaging, and bass performance from such a compact cabinet."
