Ordering Turn-Key Builds or Components

Have a question that’s not answered here? Contact us directly.

Do you ship globally?

Yes! We routinely ship worldwide.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping typically ranges from $200 to $1,000 USD for our flagship speakers, which weigh around 100kg per unit.

How are the speakers shipped?

Speakers are crated in custom-designed plywood crates built in SolidWorks to ensure safe transport.
Features include:

  • 2x2 wood framing with 3/8" plywood

  • Fully lined with 1" Styrofoam

  • Speaker is stretch-wrapped to protect against abrasion
We also assist with logistics like stairways, doorways, or narrow hallways. Crates can include wheels if needed.

Can you reduce VAT or import taxes?

Yes. We can remove the design service portion from the invoice, reducing the declared value by 25–50%, which helps lower taxes or duties upon delivery.

Can I hear your speakers before buying?

Yes! We have customers worldwide who are happy to host in-home demos.
We also have a dedicated listening space in Ontario, Canada with multiple models available. Contact us to set up an appointment.

Do you exhibit at audio shows?

No. We prefer to invest in product development over costly trade shows. For example, we're currently building an anechoic chamber and upgrading our measurement system.

Do you have speakers ready to ship?

We carry a limited inventory, viewable on our Inventory page. These are typically extra pairs made during production runs.

What is the lead time for custom orders?

  • Medium-sized projects: 2–3 months

  • Flagship speakers: Up to 6 months

What happens after I place an order?

You’ll receive regular email updates with photos and progress from our shop.

Can I call to ask questions?

Absolutely. Phone conversations are encouraged. We understand this is a significant purchase and are happy to offer calm, no-pressure advice tailored to your setup.

What's the best amplifier for your speakers?

We typically recommend tube amplification between 3–20 WPC. Our own amps and preamps are launching in 2026. Until then, we suggest:

  • Elekit (Japan)

  • AN Kits (Ottawa, using Audio Note UK parts)

  • Sun Audio

  • Alan Eaton

What speaker wire do you use?

We use silver-plated OFC multistrand wire with Teflon jackets — the same type used in aerospace applications. We’ve been using it for over a decade.

Can I choose different crossover components?

No. Our crossovers are precisely tuned with selected components. Substituting parts, even respected brands, may negatively affect performance.

Why use hardwood?

Hardwood adds beauty and warmth to the ownership experience — just like fine musical instruments. Photos can’t capture its true character.

Can you build speakers using my vintage drivers?

No. We only use new components to ensure quality and reliability. Older drivers (Altec, JBL, TAD) often suffer from fatigue or voice coil damage, especially under high SPLs or poor servicing.

Do new compression drivers sound as good as vintage ones?

Yes. Modern designs offer:

  • Lower distortion (e.g., copper shorting rings)

  • Advanced diaphragms and suspensions

  • Clean, extended treble — even without exotic materials like beryllium

Do your speakers sound shouty?

Not at all. Our designs are built from the ground up for home listening — not adapted from PA systems.
They have:

  • Zero horn coloration

  • Highly optimized crossovers

  • Excellent soundstage and imaging

Why use horns and compression drivers?

After testing domes, AMTs, ribbons, and planars — nothing matches the clarity of a well-designed horn + compression driver combo.

Do you offer active speakers?

Yes. All models can be made fully active using Hypex plate amps with DSP.
Our hybrid system (used in the Nighthawk) features:

  • Passive mid/treble

  • Active bass

How does hybrid active work?

  • No extra signal cables needed

  • Plate amp powers bass only, using signal from your main amp

  • Just plug in AC power and speaker cable

  • Auto sleep/wake function

  • Bass tuning and room correction are possible

Will you help with final setup?

Yes, this is recommended for serious listeners. I can visit to:

  • Listen with you

  • Make minor crossover or system tweaks

  • Ensure it sounds right to your ears
    This service is quoted optionally.

Does speaker isolation matter?

Yes. All our speakers come with pre-installed isolation, often using ISO Acoustics GAIA feet (depending on model).

Will I need to assemble anything?

Most turn-key builds arrive fully assembled. Some models may require minor assembly.

How do you voice your speakers?

We use a treated listening room with 18 acoustic panels and a top-tier reference system:

  • Volumio Rivo Plus (I2S output)

  • Denafrips Pontus 15th Anniversary DAC

  • Fully balanced tube preamp (relay volume control)

  • 300B push-pull monoblocks (22 WPC)

Final tuning is done over many days and spaces:

  • Our main workshop

  • Daniel’s open-concept farmhouse

  • Dedicated listening room (16' x 24')

  • A retreat room off the master bedroom

Why don’t you publish final measurements?

Measurements are used during development to resolve technical issues.
But final tuning is done by ear, not by chasing perfect graphs.

We believe you can’t make a buying decision from a frequency chart.

For DIY products, however, we do share detailed measurements.

Can I become a dealer?

No. We follow a direct-to-customer model and have no dealer network.

DIY Products & Services

I can’t find inductors with the correct DCR. What now?

Our crossover designs allow for ±10% tolerance, including DCR.

  • Low-frequency inductors: ≤1.0 ohm

    • ~14AWG (air core)

    • ~16AWG (iron core)

I can’t find the drivers in my country.

Please check the brand’s website or contact them directly. We try to use globally available drivers, but availability may vary.

Can you design a product for commercial use?

Generally no. While we’re fine with personal builds for friends/family, commercial licensing is a separate discussion. We’ve mostly phased out business-to-business design.

I don't see a 3D CAD file on the site.

Contact us! We may have it available but haven’t uploaded it yet. We can send a manual download link upon request.

Do you offer custom design?

Yes, for variations on existing products. Contact us for a quote.

Can you design an entire speaker?

Possibly — if the project aligns with our R&D goals and you can send us the drivers for testing. Feel free to pitch your idea.

Do you do PA system design?

No. We specialize in high-end home audio, not pro audio systems.

Do you design for home theaters?

Yes! We’re currently working on DIY home theater designs and flat-pack kits for release in late 2025.

Can you 3D print parts for me?

Yes! Contact us for a quote. We can print and ship most items.

Can I buy raw-machined horns and finish them myself?

Yes. Many products are available in unfinished/raw-machined form at reduced cost. Reach out for a custom quote.

I have a specific compression driver — what horn fits?

Check out this blog post for compatibility information.

Do you offer crossover design training?

Yes. We offer a Crossover Design Video Series, available here.

Do your cabinets include damping material?

Yes. Detailed damping instructions are available here.

Can you recommend a 3D printer?

Yes — see our 3D printer guide here.

I like the Autumn Series, but the Fostex FW208HS is discontinued.

We’re updating the Autumn Series with new drivers.
Bass Cabinet No.1062 will get a new 10” woofer in late 2025.

Are Onken-style enclosures better?

We love them! Onken designs tend to offer:

  • Excellent rigidity

  • Low port noise
We’re not sure why, but they just work beautifully.

Can I use my Altec woofer in your Onken cabinet?

Only if you have the Thiele/Small parameters. If available, we can simulate the cabinet performance for a small fee. No T/S data = no simulation.

Can you design a cabinet for my woofer?

Yes — as long as you have the T/S parameters. Contact us for a design quote.
